Our upcoming epsiode with Split Creative Director Oli Bentley sees us talk to him all things design and music. In the episode we hear about the creation of Split’s work for Vessel’s album The Great Distraction. Created with some heavy duty lasers we love the physical nature of this piece (and the technical side too!)
Split describe it best on their site by explaining ‘What started as a record sleeve design brief turned into a large scale installation, creating an album cover made entirely from lasers that you could walk around.’ The result is a something that looks at home both in a technology dependent future and the 1980’s. It just goes to show you never know where a simple brief could lead you.
We are delighted to see that this has been nominated for Art Vinyl’s ‘Best Art Vinyl 2017’. This is a competition to crown the best vinyl art of 2017 and is now open for public vote. You can vote right here with the closing date being December 17th and the winners will be announced early in January.
